Slipping

Just a little.

But to be honest, it’s been happening.

A lot has been going on lately, starting with not being able to do much activity for the 3 weeks after The Biggest Loser Resort due to those stupid blisters on my heel!! Yes!! It took them about 3 weeks to heal.

I’ve had some issues with one of my children. I’m usually pretty open and honest about things that happen in my life, both here and on my other blog, Really?, but it’s not really my story to tell. It’s his. It’s nothing horrible or too crazy. To put your mind at ease, know that he is okay.

And, of course, the HOLIDAYS!! Oh My Goodness.

I did Thanksgiving dinner at my house this year. We didn’t have any guests and one of my brats wasn’t at home either….

Soooo….I cooked enough food for at least 20 people. And there were only 4 of us.

We stuffed ourselves silly for about 4 days.

Yikes!!

I do want to say that I’m getting back on track.

I’m working on getting to Zumba 3 times a week. I also need to start training for another half marathon coming up in January. I am going to try to up my short runs from 30 minutes on Tuesday and Thursdays to 45 minutes each of those days. The long runs are on Saturday. I was supposed to do like 11.5 miles Saturday. Didn’t happen. I’ll have to kind of reconfigure my long run schedule to get them in and get myself worked back up to the 13.1 mile mark. It would be awesome to get in a 14.5 mile run about 2 weeks before the next half marathon. I’m sure that would make allll those miles much, much easier.

Speaking of half marathons, I did just complete my 1st half marathon!! It was November 10th at Disney World. It was amazing. It was challenging. It was loooonnnng. But most importantly, it was FUN! I’ll write more about that laters though. I want to dedicate an entire post to that, so you’ll have to wait. I will tell you that it took me 3 hours, 25 minutes, and 4 seconds to run. It only took Carly 3 hours, 25 minutes, and 3 seconds. Yep. She beat me again, lol. (I’m not really sure how though, we were side by side running across the starting line and holding hands, side by side across the finish line). And it’s all good that she beat me. We weren’t competing against each other. We just wanted to finish.

Why This Blog?

Published August 6, 2012 by meee2

I’ve been on a quest for better health for the better part of 10 years now.

I’ve had highs. 277 to be exact.

I’ve had lows. About 198. That was about 7 years ago. 7 years too long ago.

I finally got serious about getting my weight and health under control about 4 months ago.

My best friend did the Tinker Bell Half Marathon  in January. I was there (sort of, but that’s another post) to cheer her on after she finished.

They announced the same half marathon for January of 2013.

This time, my friend told me I had to cross the line with her, instead of just be there for her when she was done.

I said, Fuck, I better get running.

And so I did.

It was slow, long, torturous even, at the beginning.

It’s still kind of slow, but not so torturous. I’ve gone from being able to finish a mile in over 18 minutes, to about 12:40 a mile. Like I said, still slow, but I’m getting there.

My cousin, Jenna, kind of kicked me in the butt to get moving, even more. I told her if she met her goals when she was away and continued to when she got home, I would do it with her.

So I’m going to try.

Her schedule will be much more than mine, for right now. I’m aiming for 2 to 3 hours of activity a day. Once the kiddos go back to school I will have more time for myself and can up my activity to 3 to 4 hours a day.

As of the start of this blog, I’m 224.6 pounds. My goal is to get down to 140.

Hang on, this might be a bumpy ride.

Me after a 5K. Try not to notice the gray hair.
